In early October, Hurricane Michael made landfall as the strongest storm the Florida Panhandle had ever seen. One of the schools in Panama City that received catastrophic damage was St. John Catholic School. Dr. Vicki Parks, the principal of St. John, was formerly the Assistant Principal at St. Andrew Catholic School in Cape Coral from 2014-2016. In an effort to support Dr. Parks and the rebuilding of her school, SACS students and families prayed and launched “Ribbons for Hope.” Spearheaded by Mrs. Melton’s first grade class, students and families were asked to donate any amount and be included in the Ribbon Wall. The wall began to be covered with ribbons and from November 9th through December 18th $1100.00 was collected. A final effort was made when students who wished to be out of uniform for a day brought in donations.
A total amount of $2125.00 was collected and is being sent to the school.
