Mr. Nelson was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he played on the baseball team. Mr. Nelson graduated from Carthage in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, he moved to Fort Myers and began his teaching career with the Lee County School District, where he taught first and fourth grades for seven years.
In 2012, Mr. Nelson joined Bishop Verot High School and taught Theology, World History, and Geography for several years. In 2014, he stepped out of the classroom to became the Dean of Students. Mr. Nelson served as the Dean of Students from 2014-2016. In the fall of 2016, he became the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs and in 2017 was named the Assistant Principal for Student Life. In May of 2017, Mr. Nelson earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. He is married to Monica Nelson, a faculty member at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School. They have two children, Brayden, who will be in fourth grade and Grayce, who will be in VPK. Mr. Nelson and his family are active parishioners at Saint John XXIII where he serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Mr. Nelson is extremely blessed and humbled for the opportunity to be the next principal at Saint Andrew Catholic School. He gives thanks to Father Gordon for hiring him and Dr. Judi Hughes for all her support.
